That’s why I offer bariatric psychological evaluations that are not only clinically sound but deeply human.
Why a Psychological Evaluation Is Required
Most bariatric programs require a psychological evaluation before surgery. This isn’t about gatekeeping—it’s about making sure you’re emotionally ready, informed, and supported for what’s ahead.
Having gone through this process myself, I know how important it is to feel respected and understood. You won’t find judgment here—just an experienced therapist who understands what it means to walk this path.
What Our Session Will Cover
Our time together will focus on your:
Readiness for surgery and the lifestyle changes it requires
Emotional and mental health history
Relationship with food, body image, and self-care
Coping strategies and support system
Understanding of the risks, expectations, and outcomes
We'll talk through any concerns you have and highlight your strengths. If helpful, I’ll also share some insights from my own post-op experience—no pressure, just perspective.
What You’ll Receive
A warm, collaborative 60–90 minute evaluation (in person or virtual)
Optional brief psychological assessments
A comprehensive report submitted to your surgeon or program within [X] business days
A safe space to be honest about your fears and your hopes

They will file your insurance claim for you and will get you reimbursed very quickly
Cost
$200 per session
(typically covered by health insurance in-network or out-of-network benefits)
$75 for written evaluation
(not covered by insurance)
